WhyMove Privacy Policy
Last Updated: December 25, 2024
Privacy Approach
WhyMove is built on one belief: your data is yours. The activities you record, the photos you take, and the memories you create stay on your device. Privacy is not a secondary feature in WhyMove, it is the foundation of the entire app.
Quick Overview
| What We Do | What We Don’t Do |
|---|---|
| Process all data directly on your device | Collect personal data |
| Store information locally | Send data to external servers |
| Give you control over what’s saved | Track usage or behavior |
| Respect privacy by design | Sell, share, or monetize your data |

How We Use It:
• Automatically attach media to activity cards
• Create galleries and memories for each workout
• Generate shareable stories
We do not scan photos unrelated to your activities.
Location
We Access:
• Your location when the app is in use
How We Use It:
• Fetch weather information for activity cards
• Add environmental context to your workouts
Location is never stored or transmitted.
Apple Intelligence (On-Device AI)
When enabled, WhyMove may use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models to assist with journaling, summaries, and insights. Processing stays on your device and does not leave it at any stage. AI features enhance the experience but are optional.
Storage & Sync
All data is stored locally using secure iOS technologies.
• SwiftData for activity summaries, notes, cards
• UserDefaults for settings
• App Group container for widget support
If iCloud sync is enabled on your device, WhyMove data may sync across your personal devices through Apple’s encrypted infrastructure. We cannot access your iCloud data.
What We Do Not Collect or Store
• No personal information

• No analytics, behavior tracking, or profiling
• No advertising identifiers
• No accounts or sign-ups
• No data is sold, shared, or monetized
Your experience is private and offline.
Third-Party Services
WeatherKit
Used only to request weather conditions for workouts. Requests run through Apple and adhere to Apple’s privacy policies. No identifying information is shared.
Push Notifications
If enabled, notifications are delivered through Apple Push Notification Service. They are generated locally and are not tied to tracking or analytics.
